The great illustrator and writer Maira Kalman once said ‘A visit to a museum is a search for beauty, truth, and meaning in our lives. Go to museums as often as you can.’ Therefore, museums and cultural institutions will play a crucial role in Poland’s cultural and economic revival post-Covid lockdown. The Neon Muzeum is delighted to be in the vanguard of this recovery effort.
We have saved over 270 neon signs from certain destruction and have painstakingly and beautifully restored over 70 - which are now on display in the museum. The Neon Muzeum's stunning collection of cold war neon signs is one of Warsaw's most popular attractions and brings in visitors from across the world. The lockdown has hit us hard and seriously affected our mission to bring these historic electro-graphic artefacts back to life and many iconic signs await their moment to shine again. The cost of running such a museum is also enormous. Additionally, we are seeking a new home for the museum - a much larger space in Warsaw - to present our entire collection of neon signs to our visitors.
